Marathon Oil has shut production from its Brae Alpha production platform in the UK North Sea, following a gas leak.
Marathon Oil, the Texas-based operators of the Brae Alpha platform, said it was not safe to continue work until investigations were completed.
The installation was shut down at about 16:35 on Boxing Day. No-one was injured in the incident.
A spokesman for Marathon Oil said the situation was being investigated and the relevant authorities had been notified - we wil update this as information is recieved
The Brae Alpha Platform is located about 155 miles (248km) north east of Aberdeen.
