Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has granted consent to Wintershall to drill two exploration wells, in the North Sea, using the Borgland Dolphin drilling rig.
The two wells, 35/8-6S and 35/8-6A, are located in Wintershall-operated production licence 248, offshore Norway.
According to the safety agency, drilling is scheduled to begin in March 2016 and estimated to last 85 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.
The wells will be drilled by Dolphing Drilling’s 1977-built semi-submersible Borgland Dolphin.
The Aker H-3 rig underwent an extensive upgrade in 1999 and received the Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in September 2004.
